Our Curated Favorite Yorkville Restaurants
Winter is over and spring has sprung, which makes this the perfect time to get out and explore Yorkville. Of course, it’s always fun to hit the shops or scope and the local galleries. But one of my all-time favourite things to do in the neighbourhood is grab some friends and indulge at a buzz-worthy restaurant. Yorkville is home to pretty patios, elegant dining rooms, and trendy watering holes—not to mention some of the most impressive menus in the city. Put simply, it’s the ideal place to let your inner foodie out.
If you’re looking for a spectacular meal in Yorkville, here are five restaurants that won’t disappoint…
1) Alobar Yorkville
Alobar was created by the team behind Alo—a restaurant that’s on the tip of every Toronto food lover’s tongue. Known for its incredible contemporary French cuisine, Alo is widely considered to be one of the best eateries in the country. Luckily, its Yorkville offshoot is just as good. Small plates, sharing dishes, desserts—there’s no item on the Alobar menu that disappoints. During every course, you’ll discover flavours that are both bold and subtle, smooth and unforgettable. A perfectly-polished restaurant interior (which includes plush chairs and chic lighting fixtures) only adds to the dining experience.
2) Cafe Boulud
Located in the Yorkville Four Seasons, Cafe Boulud provides all of the sophistication and culinary indulgences you would expect from an illustrious hotel chain. This brasserie serves up seasonal French-inspired dishes so savoury, you’ll be planning your next visit before you’re even out the door. If you’re looking for dishes that are warming and deeply-satisfying, try the crispy pork belly, slow-roasted duck leg, or grilled octopus. Don’t forget to soak up the ambiance, complete with soft lighting, subtley-colourful banquets, and a lively bar.
3) Estia
Have you ever been to Estia? If the answer is no, I’m about to tell you about your new favourite restaurant. Simplicity is key at this Mediterranean hotspot. Fresh, perfectly-spiced ingredients are prepared on top of wood and charcoal to enhance their natural flavours. From tasty kebabs to tender lamb chops, every item on the menu is worth trying. Like the food, the atmosphere at Estia is something special. This bright, two-level space is brimming with elegant details, such as a Persian rug and opulent glass chandelier. That said, I would suggest sitting on the patio, which is absolutely brimming with plant life.
4) Dynasty
Have you ever been hit by one of those intense cravings for Chinese food? If it ever happens in Yorkville, take my advice and make a beeline for Dynasty. This dim sum institution moved to the neighbourhood from its old digs on Colonade a few years back. Its interior has changed (you’ll now find a subdued-yet-cheery colour palette and ultra-cozy tables), but the food is as good as its ever been. Favourites include steamed BBQ pork buns, crunchy spring rolls, and rich Peking duck.
5) Joso’s
Seafood fans, rejoice! On Davenport Road, you’ll find Joso’s—one of the best spots in the city for freshly-caught fish. Looking for a light dish? Try the refreshing octopus salad or delicate white fish soup. Hungry for something more substantial? You can’t go wrong with the catch of the day (a full, flame-roasted fish). Whatever type of seafood you’re in the mood for, you’ll find it at Joso’s—and it will be nothing short of spectacular. Don’t forget to peruse their wine list for a glass of vino to pair perfectly with your meal!
